More Medical Mayhem!
Hello Everyone!
Daddy's right foot has been bothering him for some time and we have finally learned the cause and the solution.
The Cause: A fatty tumor (benign) /cyst the size of a walnut in Daddy's heel bone. This is something he has probably had since birth and basically means that there is a pocket of gunk in his heel. This gunk can be in two consistencies; semi solid or liquid (the doctor likened it to a hard-boiled vs. a raw egg). Unfortunately, Daddy's gunk is liquid which means his heel bone could break at any time and he is not allowed to do any walking beyond what is necessary (i.e. running, hiking, and treadmill are all off limits). :-(
The Solution: Surgery to remove the gunk and replace it with bone chips. This is definitely the route Daddy wanted to take, but it will mean three months off his feet and there is still a chance of breakage. However, once everything is healed up he can do anything he wants with no restrictions! The surgery is scheduled for this next Friday (March 5th) and we would greatly appreciate everyone's prayers that the surgery and healing will go well!
